Lilypie Kids Birthday tickers

Week 9

Niyor has an unusual relationship with our wall clock! He loves looking at it any time of the day, talks(coos) to it, smiles and laughs at it.....the clock keeps him amused for long periods of time!
A major achievement this week: Niyor can now direct his fist to his mouth and suck his thumb!

2 months old!
Niyor turned 2 months old on 1st June. He had his DPT and polio vaccination on 1st June, he now weighs 6.6kg and measures 62 cm.

Niyor has some tummy time every day before his bath and today he dozed off for a while....just a couple of minutes....it is not safe to let a baby sleep on his tummy, so I do not encourage it....this is a rare shot.

Week 8

Niyor is becoming more active and his play time is increasing by the day! His "ooh"s and "aah"s are increasing in volume!

Nap time with daddy (Niyor's smiling in his sleep!)

Week 7

Bath time with Aita...Niyor enjoys being bathed and being without any clothes on! Niyor's 1st shopping experience- at the local mall

Play time with Koka!

Introduction of the pacifier : We bought pacifiers last week and this week we've resorted to using them when Niyor has a fussy spell

Week 6

At 6 weeks Niyor now looks a little older to me! He has a feeding schedule of a feed every 3 hours, he poops once every morning, and he has started making "ooh","aah","ga","angaaah" noises at people......He plays with Kaka and Aita by making noises every day for at least an hour! Niyor chatting with mommy!

And now with daddy!

Week 5

Niyor turned one month old on the 1st. His Anai went back to India on the same day.Niyor's been missing her a lot as evident from the long gazes at the empty room where Anai was staying!
This was a challenging week for me because I had to manage Niyor on my own for three days.Of course Kalyan would get back early from work but i still had the whole day to get by. Niyor was cranky all day on the 3rd and I did not know how to make him stop crying.......resorted to many tricks- dancing with him in my arms, playing all kinds of music, taking him out to the balcony for fresh air, I even shortened his feeding time gap...........but nothing really worked! By evening he settled back to his normal self.
Niyor's Aita and Koka (Kalyan's parents) arrived from India on 4th.......so I will not be on my own for the next three months!
On the 2nd Niyor got his Hep B vaccinaton, he now weighs 5 kg and measures 57.9 cm in length!

Week 4

Niyor's first photographed smile!
Niyor smiles in his sleep at times and sometimes when he is awake but it's more of a reflex than a social thing!

Niyor with me

Niyor out on his first pram ride to the park near our apartment

He got surrounded by school girls who could not stop petting and preening over the little fellow!

Week 3

Niyor with Anai
Niyor isn't sleeping as much as he was last week. His waking hours are spent gazing around and staring at whatever is around him.
He got his BCG vaccination on the 21st, he did not cry much, just a shriek and he went back to sleep!
He now weighs 4.6 kg and measures 55.9 cm

Week 2

Niyor keeps waving his arms around his face and scratches himself sometimes so we made him wear mittens!

His umbilical cord stump fell off on the 9th

We took him out to the balcony and faced him towards the sun (it's a kind of cleansing ritual).

Niyor poops just once or twice a day, I'd expected the freqency to be more than that! It maybe because he's on formula. We took him for his first paediatric check up on the 12th, the doctor(who speaks only korean) gave him a clean bill of health.

Week 1 (April 1st-April 7th)

The nurses bring Niyor to my room every morning and take him back in the evening....haven't been courageous enough to keep him with us through the nights!
My wound is healing well .........I started walking the day after the operation....initially it hurt like hell but it eventually got better....

Niyor's eyes are still not fully open...will take a while for him to get used to the bright world ouside the womb!
He sucks like a champ but I've not really been breastfeeding successfully inspite of the nurses' continuous attempts!
As of now Niyor is being bottle fed. Niyor with Anai

He's been sleeping most of the time, waking up for his feeds or a change of diaper.
I haven't been able to carry him yet, so my hubby and mom are taking care of him when he's in the room with us.

Discharge day (April 6th 2006):
We brought Niyor home from the hospital on 6th April. He settled comfortably in his crib and even posed for the camera by waving his arms and legs!

Niyor's 1st day!

Niyor's 1st photograph!
After almost a nine month long wait....Niyor finally arrived on April fools' day (1st April,2006) ! He was scheduled to arrive on 12th April but showed up early!
The little man weighed in a hefty 4.28 kg and measured 52.9 cm in length.
My Cesarean section went off smoothly......I walked to the OR at 1.30 pm and Niyor was born at 2 pm. His dad and Anai (maternal grandmother) saw him as he was wheeled to the nursery......they noticed that he was a big baby compared to the other babies born that day and he had a huge mop of black hair!
I met Niyor in the evening in the recovery room (which would be home for the next four days).
We had our first hug and it felt wonderful being a mom!
I tried to nurse but wasn't able to...maybe from tomorrow...
Niyor has a dimpled chin just like mommy, anai and great putha (great grandad)!!
The nurses agree that baby looks like mom!
