Week 18

"Mama, will you please stop taking pictures of me all the time?!"

Niyor is sleeping through the night (8 hours!) for the past 3 days......that's such good news for Mama and Papa!! He's also started exploring the entire length and breadth of his crib by rolling and shuffling.... always find him sleeping on his tummy.....put him on his back and in minutes he'll be on his tummy again......drives me nuts! Can no longer leave him unattended on a raised surface.....gone are the days when he'd remain in the same position as I left him! Pinning him down for a change of clothes or diaper is becoming a challenging task as he wiggles and rolls to his tummy! But it's such a joy watching him grow and develop...I love every moment of my life as a mom!!

Papu got an exersaucer for Niyor.....we're running out of ideas to keep him amused! He's already bored with his gym and the other toys!

Happy (4 month) birthday lil' guy!

4 months old!

Today(1st Aug), lil' guy turned 4 months....he had his DPT and polio shots ...poor kid! He cried for about 5 minutes....calmed down soon....and as we got into the taxi he started singing (oh ya! the boy sings! That's his latest obsession! Will post a video as soon as I can catch him on film!). He is napping now.....hope he doesn't get cranky later in the day because of the shots.........(Update : He didn't get cranky at all!!)

Niyor now weighs 8.9 kg and is 67.5 cm tall.

Drool drool drool....Niyor's been drooling like crazy! While mommy's been washing bibs day in day out!! And the finger sucking doesn't help at all...

This week Niyor's been going to sleep on his own without Mama/Papa holding him or patting him to sleep...when he is sleepy he turns to one side , starts making soft sounds (as if singing himself a lullaby!!) and goes off to sleep! Do not know if the trend will continue! (Update: Did not continue!!)

Week 16

Niyor is gravely concerned about the ongoing middle east crisis...he's been following the news on CNN/BBC!

Niyor's Aita and Koka left for India on 19th July...he's been missing them terribly ever since...he keeps looking for them...poor kid, he will have to wait till he goes to India to see them (possibly this coming November)

Week 15

Lil prince charming with Koka and Aita!

Niyor rolled over from his back to his tummy! Sometime during his afternoon nap (on 11th July), Niyor rolled over from back to front and started crying in surprise! Ever since then whenever he's on his back, either sleeping or awake he rolls over to his tummy! This is a great milestone for the lil' guy!!

Out on a Sunday evening stroll Niyor is 100 days old today(9th July)

Niyor getting a taste of food to come in later months! We just gave him the tiniest of licks!
Niyor's going to become a writer! Aita and Koka did a small "Annaprassana" ceremony for Niyor by making him lick a tiny bit of rice, fish, chicken, a vegetable dish and rice pudding...Niyor found the whole thing very interesting! Aita got a plate containing rice grains, gold bangles and rings, a book, a pen and money and Niyor was asked to pick an object......guess what he picked?!! The pen! It seems whatever the child picks is what he'll be interested in pursuing later in life!

Niyor indulges in solitary play every day for about half an hour or so without bothering anyone.When he gets bored he yells out as if to call us to give him company!

Crying for more cereal!

We have started Niyor on rice cereal from today(9th July).....decided to stop feeding him banana for a while.....I read somewhere that babies may get used to the sweet taste of fruits and lose interest in bland food like cereal......today, he ate cereal as enthusiastically as he did the mashed banana....in fact he loved it! He wants more than he gets...but we cannot give him more than a tablespoon yet.....

Week 14

Niyor loves to watch people talk on TV....he thinks they are talking to him! He has conversations with the TV on a regular basis...we do not encourage him watching TV but there are times when the TV is off and Niyor just screams at it to turn on so he can talk to the people!

3 months old!
Niyor had his first taste of solid food (a tiny amount of mashed banana mixed with his formula) this week (on 3rd June)...he turned 3 months old on 1st June......He loved every spoon of it and wanted more! But we are taking it slow..let's see how his body takes it.......his paediatrician recommends starting solids at six months but we couldn't wait coz Niyor's a big baby(almost 8kg now) and of late he's getting hungry between his formula feeds and he's been eyeing us eating!

Chatterbox! This baby just loves to chat!

A very sleepy Niyor! These days Niyor goes to sleep while lying in his crib or the bed with Aita/Koka/Mommy/Papu gently stroking his back and humming a lullaby/any song! Good news for us coz carrying him till he sleeps takes a lot of time and patience!
