7 months

1st November 2006 :

Today is Niyor's 7 month birthday.....7 months old.......Whaaatttt??!!!! Already?! Just 5 more months to go and he'll no longer be a baby?! Nooooooo!! I so want to hold on to his baby days....yet there are times when I wish he'd grow up fast!

Lil' guy is now officially on solid food! And so far he seems to be loving it! Like Mmaa he's a big time foodie! So far on the menu.....carrot, sweet potato, pear, apple, banana, potato, rice/ vegetable cracker and khichdi! He's outgrown his love for cereal ever since he tasted real food! Just hope the love for good food grows as he grows.....

On all fours! Video of lil' guy moving on all fours releasing shortly.....!! Both Mmaa and Bbaa are hard up for time as we are planning/packing/shopping for our India trip during the little free time we manage to get these days!

Independent play is becoming rare on most days now as Niyor realises the absence/presence of people around him and prefers to play with someone rather than on his own.....

October 27th 2006:

Lil' guy got his second haircut (in six and a half months) today! Barber "Bbaa" and assistant "Mmaa" had been debating on whether to chop off Niyor's locks for sometime now.....and today went ahead with it on an impulse.....lil' guy's been losing a lot of hair.... also, his head tends to sweat a lot and his hair gets soggy and sweaty at the end of every day.....so his hair is gone...for the time being!

Sleep routine is back to normal and that's such a huge relief!But let me not go on about it too much coz' you never know when it changes again!In teething news, tooth no. 6 has made it's appearance!

October 24th 2006 :

Niyor's been getting more and more mobile with each passing day.....and I'm so not ready for all this mobility yet! As of now he does a funny hop-crawl-creep combo routine which looks clumsy yet cute and lil' guy manages to get around quite well! Speed has been picking up immensely...so much so that I've been busy getting him out of potential hazards(baby-proofing of the place pending!) and haven't been able to capture him on video yet!

Lil' guy got into a sitting position from a "lying on tummy" position for the first time today! He fell after sitting....poor baby!
The last couple of days have been busy times for lil' guy....what with him trying to crawl and sit!Looks like we have to baby-proof the house soon!
On a less cheerful note "Bbaa" and baby are down with a cold....not that it stops the lil' squirt from pursuing any of his activities!
And yes....henceforth I'm sticking to this format....the whole weekly thing was getting confusing!

For the first time Niyor was able to get his bum and head up at the same time for a proper crawl position....he kept going back and forth, it was a sight to watch!

Happy Diwali!

21st October 2006:
Niyor celebrated his first Diwali with a group of Indians here in Suwon....he fought sleep and stayed awake (way past his bedtime!) till the festivities came to an end.....

Watch Niyor creeping!

Lil' guy got his first flu shot on tuesday(17th Oct)......there wasn't much of a crowd in the pediatrician's office....doc was very chatty and Niyor was in a cheerful mood...he grabbed the ped's papers and pulled on his stethoscope! He did not even flinch after the shot!Niyor now weighs 10. 3 kg and measures 73 cm in length.In teething news,tooth no. 5 has just cut through,no. 4 is out! Haven't been able to capture lil' guy on cam yet......also I don't function well without sleep so have been out of sorts lately!Need to upload tons of videos taken ages ago.....need to write a post about why Niyor's "BBaa" rules(on why he's daddy no. 1)....will get back soon.........
Niyor's been desperately trying to crawl for the last couple of weeks.....he's having a hard time attempting to get his head and bum up at the same time!Excuse the poor quality of the pic......our cam had a fall the other day and the flash isn't working since!

Lil' guy's been kissing Ma and Ba on request since Sunday(Oct 15th)!

Week 28

Our wonderful lil' sleeper has started waking up multiple times in the night and thus Ma and Ba have been coping with sleep deprivation this whole week!

Monday(9th Oct) was a day of yet another round of vaccinations...and a long wait at the pediatrician's office during which Niyor almost pulled a 3 week old baby's hair, tried to climb on the sofa, tasted the glass door, made music using his hands and whatever object he could lay his hands on...and as he went in for the shots he pulled the ped's instruments and stethoscope!
In teething news....tooth no. 4 has cut it's way through and is halfway out!

Week 27

Niyor had his first experience of eating a biscuit this week.....don't worry folks it was a baby biscuit....he ate it like a pro! But of course we jus let him have only a quarter of it!

Niyor had his 6 month check-up and vaccinations on 2nd Oct....the shots went off smoothly!

His 6 month stats: weight 10.2 kg, height 71.5 cm

6 months old!

Today (1st October 2006) is Niyor's 6 month birthday! Where did the past half year go?!! I find it hard to believe that lil' guy is 6 months old already! Time sure flies!

As I write this post I feel this time in his life deserves a letter from mother to son.....so, here goes:

Dearest Niyor,
Today you turn 6 months old! The past month just whizzed past us and as I see you change every day I'm amazed at the wonder that is you! You are growing so fast that I'm having a hard time documenting all your achievements!

As of 6 months:

- you can sit up unattended and play with your toys for long periods of time...till you get bored and look around for a playmate !

-pull yourself to stand holding onto the edge of the sofa, Ma/Pa's hands, your gym!

-say "Mmaa", "Bbaa" discriminately(?!!)

-remove your socks and cap at the first chance you get!

-transfer an object from one hand to the other and shake objects to make noise!

-rake tiny objects with your fingers

-you can roll back to front and front to back with ease on your left side...since last friday you have discovered the joys of rolling all the way from one end of your playmat/bed to the other end!

-your creeping skills are improving day by day......ma and pa are in no hurry to see you crawl....so just take it easy!You get frustrated by your inability to lift your bum and head at the same time to get into a proper crawling position! Sweetheart, you need to learn some patience!

-you've been sleeping through the night(8 to 10 hours on avg) consistently for more than 2 months now!

- I see a very bright and cheerful personality emerging in you....although you have your off days you are a happy baby who laughs easily and enjoys having people around you!

- you have three teeth now! teething woes cause mood fluctuations which can get you down at times and make you cranky but you've been taking all the changes in your stride....drool still rules!

The past month you had your first brush with sickness...."just a common cold"....but it made me sick with worry over the fact that you were in discomfort of any kind.......am glad you are doing well now although you had a runny nose the whole of last week.....

Happy six month birthday sweetie!!

Life has been beautiful ever since you came into the world......being a parent is challenging in so many ways and there are days when I'm overwhelmed by the challenges but I would never ever trade being your "Mmaa" for anything! It's been an amazing journey with you and I look forward to the coming months and years with the hope of spending and exploring life's moments together!!
