Lilypie Kids Birthday tickers

10 months!

1st February 2007:

Dear Niyor,

Today you turn 10 months old! I can hardly believe you are growing up so fast....the last month especially you have achieved such a lot and learnt so much stuff that I'm simply stunned! You amaze me in so many ways every day!

Eating Saraswati puja prasad....

You have mastered the art of eating with your fingers! You can now eat a biscuit, pieces of bread toast/fruit/cooked vegetable slices independently...pincer grasp is fully functional! You are able to drink from a cup/glass with a little help....it gets messy but you love the whole process so much that it's a delight watching you learn inspite of endless clean-ups, bib changes! The next big challenge you're working hard at these days is using a spoon to eat....now that's something which will take a long time...it's fun watching you try new things with so much concentration!

Another major development the past month was your learning to share your biscuit/snack with others by extending your snack-held hand to feed Ma/Anai/Putha!

Anai trying to console a teary eyed lil' guy!

I see a very distinct personality emerging in you lil' fellow...you laugh heartily, you're very demonstrative of your emotions...you are going to be a strongheaded lil guy!

fooling around with Anai!

I think you understand "No" selectively.....when I say "No" to something you are not supposed to do or something potentially hazardous (like the time you almost ate a fistful of dirt from the plant pot!!), you have a wicked yet cute grin on your face and attempt to disobey! I don't use "No" a lot though!

Lil' guy seems to be pleading "Please get me outta this stroller" while Dhun ba strikes a pretty pose!

sleeping with teddy

Your balance is improving every day and just the other day you stood on your own for a few seconds and very soon sat down on your bum with a thud! You practise taking small independent steps in your crib!

Playing with Anai's wool ball and Ma's old toy(the yellow clown thingy!)

Favourite toy/comforter of the month: apple!

Lil' guy loves apples...in all forms...he eats it with gusto either cooked or raw, plays with it and is also comforted by it!

"Wonder what he's eating out of that yellow bag?!"

You met your cousin Anshuman for the first time on Jan 18th...there wasn't much of an interaction as Anshuman wasn't feeling well and you were more focussed on what everybody else was eating!

Enjoying a bicycle ride with Do dada...our lil' guy's in love with the bicycle and adores Do dada ! Humming a tune every morning after your morning meal is another new thing you have picked up...every morning as you wake up and see the worldspace radio you hum a tune....perhaps we have a singer in the making! You've also started bouncing to music...as if dancing to the music playing on the radio!

You started out loving the swing...no fear at all from day one...sometimes you sit on it with Putha and go off to sleep humming! In this pic you're fighting sleep! Of late you've started examining every inch of the wooden plank and the iron rod by raking with your fingers and your'e intent on getting down and dirty on the ground below!

You may not miss the cute tummy but you will the words on the shirt that says "Who needs lotto when i've got grandma?!" (Lotto is a game I assume)

The other day I think I saw you indulge in what I suspect to be some sort of pretend play! You were playing with a small plastic container and you kept bringing it to your ear...I thought nothing of it till I saw you bring my mobile phone to your ear later in the day! The phone kept falling off your hand as you tried to bring it to your ear... you kept picking it up till you got the phone to your ear.....! Must say you love challenges and never give up till you suceed!

I look forward to the coming months with excitement and I know that you will always be the best thing that ever happened to me! You are learning things super fast and charming me with your antics ever so often!
Happy 10 months sweetheart! You are loved, cherished and treasured every day....

a day in the life....

26th January 2007:

a family portrait with anai, putha ,payal mahi and ma...persons missing from the pic : ba who's working hard in korea ,aita and koka who are in guwahati and nupur mahi who anyways hates her pics being taken....

"What's the point in sitting on a stationery vehicle??"
Lil' guy loves cars....and bikes, scooters, cycles, rickshaws!! in other words any vehicle that's moving and he's in it....this trip to india he's experienced all sorts of rides....rickshaw,scooter,bike and car...and he wants more and more every time he sees a vehicle...he's learnt to point to the object of his desire and has been keeping everyone around him on their toes!

"Stop posing... ride the bike!"

Enjoying Magh Bihu meji with Payal mahi and Ritam dada!
Magh Bihu was dampened by the communal violence going on at present in Assam and also by a heavy shower late in the night.....

morning blues!
Putha and Niyor go for regular morning walks...during which lil' guy sometimes dozes off! He doesn't like the stroller much these days but manages to spend some time in it every morning....
getting into all kinds of trouble!

Caught in the act!
Niyor's figured out the entire geography of our house by now...he's able to push and pull open doors and closets, and ransack the contents of closets! Although the walker has now become hazardous we keep him in it coz it's cold on the floor and also easier for us to follow him on the walker....but I have to discontinue it's use soon.....I'm not in a hurry to see him walk but also wary of a wlaker related accident and the fact that walkers don't help a baby to walk as he cannot see his feet while in it.
Getting a piece of Putha's birthday cake!

filing his nails with his comb!

Lil' guy loves nature and all things associated with ....he's been smelling the flowers and enjoying all the sights and sounds every morning by riding on Putha's shoulders!

Getting pampered like crazy!

"Lemme read you a book Putha"
